New Zealand Vacation Photo Gallery

The trip to Australia involved 26 hours of flying (round trip), so why not make the most of it and check out New Zealand too!  Starting off in Christchurch we headed north and met some angry seals in Kaikoura, and then enjoyed a short stay in the quaint town of Nelson on the shore of Tasman Bay.   We continued driving around the around the west side of the island and experienced the sub-tropical rain forest and intriguing rock formations of the Punakaiki coast.   Further south we gazed at the Franz Josef glacier, and then headed inland with an overnight stop in Wanaka.   We set aside the car keys for just a few days to relax in the “extreme sport” mecca of New Zealand, Queenstown.  After several days of getting around by foot, we packed up the car one last time for a sprint back to Christchurch.   Amazingly, we covered most of the south island in just a week and a half.  This may not have been the most ideal way to experience New Zealand, but we did have a great time and became very proficient at navigating roundabouts and driving on left side!

Mexico Vacation Photo Gallery

This post features images from our November 2008 vacation to Mexico. Our trip began in Cancun were we relaxed in the amenities of the Aqua hotel. We then drove towards the interior of the Yucatan peninsula with a day trip in the town of Valladolid and spent a night in the jungle at the Hacienda Chichen hotel to experience the Mayan ruins at Chichen Itza. Heading even further west we spent several days in the vibrant city of Merida were we took in the sights, experienced the culture, and mangled the native language.  We finished our trip with a week on the coast split between Playa del Carmen and the laid back town of Tulum.
