The Blog at Doylespot

Although the conditions weren’t ideal, having the sun and spring conditions during the month of January made up for the lack of fresh snow.  This shot was taken a short hike from the highest chair at Crystal: High Campbell.  From this vantage point Mount Rainier dominates, but it is possible to see three other volcanic peaks: Glacier Peak, Mount St. Helens, and Mount Adams.  On this day the Powder Bowl was closed, and it may have had something to do with the large crack in the snow (you can make it out in this photo near the end of my shadow).
