Mom’s Space Shuttle Video (Night Launch)

by Pete on Dec.31, 2008, under Video

Mom’s camera was rolling for the November 14th launch of the Space Shuttle Endeavour.  One interesting thing is that the sound from the launch doesn’t reach the them for over a minute into the video.  The sound heard in the beginning of the clip is the wind, and an audio broadcast of the launch.  I notice the rocket light at six seconds into the video, with the sound noticed by Mom (and the other people there) at around a minute sixteen seconds.

A quick calculation: (767.5/60)/60=0.213 miles per second, 70×0.213=….they were about 15 miles away.

Click the play button on the time line to start the video.
