Mom’s Space Shuttle Video (Night Launch)
by Pete on Dec.31, 2008, under Video
![]()
Mom’s camera was rolling for the November 14th launch of the Space Shuttle Endeavour. One interesting thing is that the sound from the launch doesn’t reach the them for over a minute into the video. The sound heard in the beginning of the clip is the wind, and an audio broadcast of the launch. I notice the rocket light at six seconds into the video, with the sound noticed by Mom (and the other people there) at around a minute sixteen seconds.
A quick calculation: (767.5/60)/60=0.213 miles per second, 70×0.213=….they were about 15 miles away.
Lifeboats - Snow Patrol

Although their new album A Hundred Million Suns doesn’t quite match up to their 2006 release Eyes Open, it does have several great songs. I particularly like the number 4 track “Lifeboats”. Once the time-line below appears, click the play button to listen.
